The allGoode Gang

The Organic Upstarts!

Food with attitude. Now theres a thought. People who are more influenced by Hunter S. Thompson than Kraft Foods. People who believe the only good can of Campbells soup is on an Andy Warhol poster. People who believe that food can be certified organic and made from real ingredients rather than concocted with chemicals by a food technologist. Food thats not homogenized and dull, but lively and vivacious. Food thats presented by people that care. Real food rocks.

We are the Organic Upstarts. Brian Powell & I founded allGoode because we felt that grocery store food had stopped being an art and had become a science. We feel that there werent enough people in the food business whose love of food is influenced by Mahatma Gandhi, St. Francis of Assisi, Jimi Hendrix, Salvador Dali, Frank Lloyd Wright and others who like to live life on the edge.

So now there is such a company, allGoode Organics. We are the allGoode Gang. We urge you to live by whats real, not whats handed to you on a plate. Smell the roses, visit the road less traveled, support the environment, treat your body as a temple and honor it with organic foods, welcome every experience with all your senses, enrich your soul. Make it a lifelong quest to find what makes you real. Reject the homogenization of our food, our culture and the wanton destruction of all that is real in our world.

Please join us as we promote the organic revolution and the continuous rediscovery of whats real. After all organic (and life) is orgasmic!

Cheers

Simon Goode

Who is the allGoode Gang!

Our collective soul, the allGoode Gang is as diverse as it is eclectic. Were not defined by style or interests. Diversity is what makes us special. It unlocks the door to synergy and playing so far away from the sand box we really dont want to know where it is!

Just take, Mary, our artist. Influenced by Rembrandt and Gary Larson mixed with a little Calvin & Hobbes, shes the twisted mind behind our graphics. Rob runs our blending facility in Colorado. Hes an herbalist, avid outdoorsman, music aficionado and homebrew master. Ken in sales is a devout Deadhead, skier and father. And as for Brian, one of the founders, hes a psychiatrists nightmare. Trying to define his influences is almost impossible. All we know is that hes prone to epiphanies and somewhere between 2 and 3 out of 10 are utterly brilliant. The challenge is to figure out which 2 (or 3)!

There is just one thing we all agree on that organic is the wave of the future and that we have an obligation to make great quality real organic foods and beverages and to spread the word. Join the revolution!

Gang Members

Simon Goode
Simon is the namesake of the company and hes also responsible for the idea that spawned the company. Simon lives in Santa Barbara, CA, but has rather twisted roots. He was brought up in Blighty (England), but has lived in Southern California for 15 years. That makes him a terribly proper surfer dude (or something like that)! His heroes are Joe Strummer (from the Clash), his wife Missy, his two kids, Joey & Sofi, and of course Brian (his partner at allGoode) and many others too numerous to mention. He thinks you can never have enough heroes!

Brian Powell
Brian and Simon worked together at The Balance Bar Company prior to forming allGoode. Brian is married to Sandy (his wife of 13 years) and also the father of two young children (Alec and Georgia.) Brian reads a lot of biographies and political non-fiction. Speaking of heros...Brian deeply admires Nelson Mandella, Winston Churchill, James Madison, Ben Franklin, Ralph Nader, Paul Hawken and Cornell West. It's been said that Brian's very animated and enthusiastic. Brian will look after our Sales efforts and he is located in his beloved hometown of Philly.

James Curley
James is also from Philly, but has lived in Chicago for 21 years. Married 22 years with one daughter, he has spent his entire career in the food and consumer packaged goods industry, the last 15 years in sales and broker management, though he'd rather play guitar (acoustic finger style only, please) given a choice. James is in charge of our mid-west sales efforts.

Ken Green
Ken is from San Francisco, so as you would expect he loves the Giants and the Grateful Dead! Married with three kids. Loves to ski in the winter and hang out in the summer. Ken is in charge of sales on the west coast.

Julie Boys
Julie was forced to rejoin the work force after a 12-year maternity leave. She gave birth to a handful of kids (one at a time) and got most of them about half raised before starting to manage the development of energy bars and other products for Balance. Now she heads up R&D for the allGoode Gang.

Mary McConnell
As our Art Director, Mary is responsible for developing our packaging and our brand "image". A transplanted Jersey-girl, Mary now resides in Santa Barbara with her future NBA player son and 2 soppy dogs.

Rob Wilcox
Rob is an herbalist and our production and QA manager for the teas. When not preparing the next batch of tea, he is often found outdoors-hiking and gardening when it is not ski season. His wife, music and good beer are year-round passions.

Shari Mock
Shari heads up the Supply Chain efforts at allGoode. She is a native Californian and when not planning the logistics for allGoode, she enjoys spending her free time outdoors. Shari and her husband Don, have toured much of the Western States on their bicycles.

Mark Machado
Thanks for all your hard work and you will forever be a part of the gang!

Richard O'Brien
Richard is in charge of the money for allGoode. He has been a Santa Barbarian for most of his life and has decided to brave the high cost of living and stay here. His main interests are his two beautiful grand daughters, where he spends most of his spare time. He is also a NBA fan (of course the Los Angeles Lakers), enjoys music (the sax) and camping.

Jeff Minehart
I live in a house that I built in the northern mountains of Vermont, with my wife, Erin, and two dogs Basil and Beans. I love snowboarding, surfing, gardening, and fly-fishing. Music, reading, and laughter are my daily rituals! Before coming to allGoode, I spent 4 years working in the Maple Syrup industry. I work w/ sales of the northeast.

Lina Robson
I graduated from Howard University in Washington, DC which is also my hometown. I am a vegetarian, personal trainer and an actress. My goal is to be known as the toughest chick in Hollywood and to have an awesome career as an action movie star. I enjoy relaxing at home with my two dogs Christmas and Tiny and frequenting dog hang outs i.e. beaches and parks.

Peter OKonski "The first Co-Op Kid!"
Pete did a killer job for us and set the mold for COKs to come Known as the pioneering "co-op kid" of the Mid Atlantic, Pete is finishing up his degree in food marketing at St. Joe's University in Philly. His number one passion is music, from J. S. Bach to James Brown. He also enjoys running and playing guitar and bass in his blues-funk band.

Brian McCann "Co-Op #2"
Young and very aggressive." Has taken to this selling thing like a fish to water. I am a 19 year old Sophomore at Saint Joseph's University working towards my Bachelors Degree in Food Marketing. I'm currently living at home in Northeast Philadelphia a.k.a. 'The Ghetto' and am still actively involved in about 5 extracurricular activities on campus.

These activities include my position as an Orientation Leader a.k.a. 'Red Shirt' and a Brother of Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity. I spend my days on campus working 2 jobs in the Admissions Office, giving tours to prospective students, and of course attending class. I find enjoyment in downloading music, cruising through 'The Ghetto' and just going out with my friends. I go by the nickname 'Toretz.'

If music is a window to the soul, then this should give you a good idea of the people who make allGoode what it is. Check out these desert island disks from a few of the Gang members. To be honest, wed settle for having these disks somewhat proximate to a CD player rather than on a desert island, but whatever floats your boat (or sinks it as the case may be)!

allGoode wants to hear your music too!

If any of you have produced a record and want us to review it...please send the disc to Brian Powell c/o allGoode Organics 5385 Hollister Ave , suite 310 - Santa Barbara, CA 93111. If I like it, I'll review it and we'll put a sample on our web site.

Attached with the CD, please forward a return phone number, address, and email address, so that we can work-out the details if we decide to promote your record.

Check out this audio cut, , which we think rocks!

Brian Powells Classic Grooves:

  • World Party  -  Goodbye Jumbo (the most underrated rock band (although its mostly just one guy Carl Wallenger) of all time!
  • Tattoo You Rolling Stones ( 3rd Floor of Xavier Hall at St, Joes listening to this record with Tim Shea and Fred Heinkel. Life was never more fun and care-free!)
  • Irma Thomas  -  The Queen of New Orleans Soul (Aretha and the Motown Girls got all of the spotlight, but Irmas as good as any female vocalist Ive ever heard and her songs - just flat-out- are masterpieces!
  • Prince  -  Gold (an absolute masterpiece! Funky, sexy, funny, and acerbic)
  • The Doo Wop Box (OK, so Im cheating a little heredoesnt everyone?)  -  The best of classic urban harmonies
  • Getz au Go Go  -  Stan Getz and A. Gilberto (the sexiest music Ive ever heard)
  • Malcolm X  -  The Soundtrack (From Boogie Woogie to Soul this record captures an amazing swath of American history)
  • Bruce Springsteen  -  Tunnel of Love (reminds me of my departed father Walk like a Man and of the courtship years with my beloved wife, Sandy)
  • Elvis Costello  -  (tie,) Punch the Clock or King of Americaor his record with Burt Bacharach (whichever one I found first)
  • Common Ground, The Voice of Modern Irish Music  -  Compilation of modern Irish performers that includes Paul Brady, Tim and Neil Finn, Elvis Costello, Bono & Adam Clayton and Sharon Shannon. Makes you feel like youre in a pub in Cork for one song and then standing on the Giants Causeway at midnight on an early summer night. Transcendental!
  • The Best of Marshall Crenshaw  -  In a class with Elvis Costello, Prince, Randy Newman, Bruce Cockburn, Bruce Springsteen, and Steve Earle as a songwriter. I saw Marshall at the Empire Rock Room in Northeast Philly about 18 years ago with just 16 other people (in the middle of a snow storm) and instead of packing-it-uphe played for 3 hours! I actually sang back-up on two songs (Im sure glad and Im sure Marshall is as well- that that concert was not being recorded!). Yikes!
  • Steve Earle  -  Jerusalem  -  Steves gotten more political and Ive become an even bigger fan

OK, so Id have to smuggle a few extras in my hat. I couldnt live without these songs!

Brian McCann's Top 10 Songs
